The Peoples parade in Stavanger on the 17th of May

17th of May - Stavanger

This picture is from May 17th, 2013. The day that Norway got its Constitution in 1814 (and yes, they have already started planning next year’s anniversary). It’s the beginning of the Peoples parade in the centre of Stavanger, starting with an old-fashioned fire-truck.

The Peoples parade goes in the afternoon, and is made up of sports-teams  brass bands, wind bands, school bands, choirs, dance-schools, the military and other religious or ethnical groups in Stavanger. This year about 95 groups had signed up for the parade.
