Alexander Lange Kielland

Alexander KiellandIn the heart of Stavanger, you can find the statue of Alexander Lange Kielland watching over Stavangers harbor. This picture was taken in early July 2009, when the statue had returned to its place after the square was redesigned.

Alexander L. Kielland was born in Stavanger in 1849, and passed away in Bergen in 1906. He is considered one of the four great Norwegian authors, and wrote plays, novels, short stories and essays. Some of his most known publications are Gift (1883), Skipper Worse (1882), and Garman & Worse (1880). (All titles are in Norwegian.)
