A memorial in Hamburg

Hamburg sønner av byen

During the beginning of a walking tour we had around Hamburg in early February 2015, we stood by the Rathaus and the Rathausmarkt (the Townhall and the Townhall marketplace). Here one can find a memorial, that is known in german as “Das Hamburger Ehrenmal” or officially “Denkmal für die Gefallenen beider Weltkriege” (Memorial for the fallen both world wars). Here is the Wikipedia-page for the memorial in German.

Vierzig tausend Söhne der Stadt liessen ihr Leben für euch. 1914-1918.
Forty thousand sons of the city gave their lives for us. 1914-1918.

Our walking tour was by Sandeman, and it was pretty fun, so I recommend trying it out, if you get the chance. (This is not sponsored, I just really liked the tour.)
